Dell PowerEdge 2850


Revisando en mis curiosidades me encontre con un servidor que utilizaba para unos sitios web hace unos años, despues de sacarle la tierra, lo puse en marcha... y ya que me vendria bien un servidor de desarrollo para ASP.NET decidi instalarle Windows Server 2008 R2 x64



Este juguete esta compuesto por este hardware mas o menos (a vista rapida):
  • Controladora SCSI DELL PERC 4e/Di RAID Controller
  • 2 Interfaces de red RJ-45 GB Ethernet (Mi version no trae interfaz para DRAC)
  • 1 Procesador Fisico Intel Xeox 3.20 GHz
  • 8 GB de memoria RAM (2 modulos de 4 GB)
  • 5 HDD SCSI de 73 GB y 15000RPM (2 en RAID 1 y 3 en RAID 5)
  • 16MB de Video integrado
  • 2 Fuentes de Poder Reduntantes de 700Watss
  • Aproximadamente pesa unos 30 Kilos.
En la parte frontal posee:
  • Disquetera
  • Lector/Grabador de DVD
  • 5 HDD SCSI de 73GB 15K RPM Hot Plug
  • 2 puertos USB
  • 1 salida VGA
  • 2 LED (uno azul y uno ambar)
  • 1 Display de 2 lineas
  • Boton de encendido
  • Boton de Reset (a la izquierda del encendido, se usa clip)
  • Boton de NMI (a la derecha del encendido, se usa clip)
  • Boton de identificacion de equipo

Nota: Los leds frontales solo funcionan cuando la mascara del equipo esta puesta (nose donde la deje, otro dia subo una foto)

blue system status indicator

Does not operate when the optional bezel is removed. The LCD display indicates the status.
amber system status indicator

Does not operate when the optional bezel is removed. The LCD display indicates the status.
LCD display   Provides system ID, status information, and system error messages.
The LCD display lights up during normal system operation. Both the systems management software and the identification buttons located on the front and back of the system can cause the LCD to flash blue to identify a particular system.
The LCD display flashes amber when the system needs attention due to a problem with power supplies, fans, system temperature, or hard drives.
NOTE: If the system is connected to AC power and an error has been detected, the LCD display flashes amber regardless of whether the system has been powered on.
power-on indicator, power button The power-on indicator lights when the system power is on. The power-on indicator blinks when power is available to the system, but the system is not powered on.
The power button controls the DC power supply output to the system.
NOTE: If you turn off the system using the power button and the system is running an ACPI-compliant operating system, the system performs a graceful shutdown before the power is turned off. If the system is not running an ACPI-compliant operating system, the power is turned off immediately after the power button is pressed.
system identification button The identification buttons on the front and back panels can be used to locate a particular system within a rack. When one of these buttons is pushed, the blue system status indicator on the front and back blinks until one of the buttons is pushed again.
USB connectors

Connects USB 2.0-compliant devices to the system.
NMI button Used to troubleshoot software and device driver errors when using certain operating systems. This button can be pressed using the end of a paper clip.
Use this button only if directed to do so by qualified support personnel or by the operating system's documentation.
video connector Connects a monitor to the system.

Si RAID esta activado,cada bahia posee 2 LED que entregan informacion sobre la unidad de disco duro SCSI. El Firmware del Backplane SCSI controla los indicadores de encendido y falla de cada unidad.

En la parte posterior tiene lo siguiente:

  • 1 puerto RJ-45 DRAC (el mio no lo tiene, que lastima...)
